Essay Topics - A Lost Lady by Willa Cather
Essay Topics - A Lost Lady by Willa Cather'Lost Lady,' A Lost Lady by Willa Cather is one of those books that you can find, from any library or bookstore, in an almost instant. From start to finish, 'Lost Lady' feels very much like the narrative of a time travel story. The focus is on Susan Decker, a writer, and how she comes to learn that she has been loved, not only by her mother but by her father, as well. That's one of the things that makes this book so great: the way it recalls certain feelings about the past. When I first read this book, I really, really loved how many memories about my childhood sprang to mind, as I was reading through the book. The details about things like having a stuffed bear named Rocky behind me as I read about his travels with his brothers, and how I wondered if he would ever be a boy again, were extremely reminiscent of my own childhood. It's almost as if there's something you're used to looking at, or being around, or even having around you. While it's clear that the 'Lost Lady' was written primarily in present tense, the rest of the essay topics are written in the present tense, also. That means that as you are reading through the essays, you are looking at them not in the past but in the present.Still, because it is essays, you are always reminded that the essay topics were written in the past. The essays themselves still feel, like they're written for another reader, the reader who may be twenty years older than you, reading through the essay topics you wrote fifteen years ago. That said, when you write the essay topics, do not be discouraged if you become emotionally involved with the topics. You should not feel ashamed about this, because I feel this as a sign of maturity, and maturity is what will make you a truly good essayist. It's simply a fact of life that your opinions and emotions are likely to be affected by how you were treated in your childhood. It's not, therefore, right to let this affect the way you write about yo ur experiences. If you feel that your childhood was particularly hard or difficult, write your essay topics in the present tense. There are more writers than not who don't recognize that fact, but it's true. It's also easy to see when you see this style of writing, that some writers can struggle with writing the essay topics of their childhood, especially if the writing was done to them. It might be easier for you to remember your childhood now, but there is a fine line between remembering your childhood and remembering it as your memories are being made.By reading the essay topics, you will be able to see if you could be anything other than what you are or have been if you are writing the essay topics of your childhood. You will know, because you'll be able to understand yourself, what you could be like if the world had been better for you. There are few things more enjoyable than reading and understanding the thoughts and feelings of an essay topic that you once dreamed of becoming. Essay topics are some of the most powerful tools that any writer can use.
